Feeding help in Alpharetta
Breastfeeding and feeding help from your baby’s pediatrician
We check feeding at every early newborn visit, and a latch check takes about ten minutes and can be booked on its own. Breast milk, formula or both: fed is the goal. Call or text (770) 615-7000.

NCQAPatient-Centered Medical HomeWhat we do
What feeding help looks like at Dare2Care Pediatrics
Feeding is part of every newborn visit, not an extra appointment. Dr. Viswanadham or Dr. Ayer weighs your baby, asks how feeds are going and, if you want, watches one.
- Latch checks, about ten minutes, booked on their own whenever a feed hurts or seems not to work
- Weight checks with the nurse, as often as needed in the first weeks
- Supplementation plans when a baby needs more than the breast is giving yet
- Safe formula preparation, and combining breast milk and formula
- Jaundice checks at the first visit
When you need more hands-on help than a visit allows, we refer you to a lactation consultant.
The first weeks
When we check feeding
| Visit | When | What we look at |
|---|---|---|
| First visit | 2 to 3 days after you leave the hospital | Weight against birth and discharge weight, jaundice, and a feed watched if you want |
| Weight check | Any time in between, as often as needed | Weight, with the nurse |
| Latch check | Whenever you need one | About ten minutes on how your baby latches and feeds |
| Two weeks | About 2 weeks old | Back to birth weight, feeding and sleep |
| One month | About 1 month old | Growth, the next vaccines, and how the parents are doing |
Why your pediatrician
Why get feeding help from your baby’s own doctor?
The person checking the latch also has your baby’s weight chart, jaundice results and hospital record. Feeding and weight are looked at together, on one chart.
Start before the birth: feeding is one of the first things we talk about at the free prenatal visit. For what to expect in the first days, read 10 breastfeeding tips and the newborn care page.
Questions
What parents ask about feeding
Do you support breastfeeding and formula equally?
Yes. Fed is the goal. We help with latch and supply, safe formula preparation, and combinations, and we refer to a lactation consultant when you need more hands-on help.
Can I book a latch check without a full visit?
Yes. A latch check takes about ten minutes. Call or text (770) 615-7000 on weekdays from 9 to 5.
My baby is not a patient yet. Can we still come?
Yes. Complete the new patient forms online, then call or text to schedule. We see newborns 2 to 3 days after they leave the hospital, and we accept Georgia Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids.
Book your baby’s first visit
