Sick Visits

Same-day sick visits on weekdays for fevers, ear infections, coughs, rashes, stomach bugs, injuries and anything else that comes up, in the office or by telehealth, with in-house rapid tests for strep, flu, COVID-19 and RSV.

Life-threatening emergency? Call 911.

Call us first

Call (770) 615-7000 any time. When the office is closed, the call goes to our after-hours line, and the clinician on call can help you decide whether it can wait until morning, needs urgent care or needs the emergency department.

Same-day sick visits Monday to Friday, in the office or by video.

About sick visits

Call or text as soon as the office opens and we will fit your child in that day. Established patients can also use telehealth for concerns that can be assessed by video.

What we treat in the office

  • Fever, colds, coughs, sore throats and ear infections
  • Strep, flu, COVID-19 and RSV, with rapid tests done here
  • Vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration
  • Rashes, eczema flares, hives and pink eye
  • Asthma flares and breathing treatments
  • Minor injuries, sprains and cuts that may need closure
  • Urinary symptoms, headaches and stomach pain

Why see us instead of urgent care

We know your child’s history, we can see them the same day, and the visit becomes part of their record here. Urgent care is right when we are closed and the problem cannot wait until morning.

When to come in

  • Fever lasting more than 2 to 3 days, or any fever in a baby under 3 months
  • Ear pain, sore throat with fever, or a cough that is getting worse
  • Vomiting or diarrhea with signs of dehydration: no tears, dry mouth, fewer wet diapers
  • A rash with fever, or a rash that is spreading quickly
  • Wheezing or an asthma flare not responding to the usual plan
  • Any concern that keeps you from sleeping

What to expect at the visit

Tell us the main symptom, when it started, the highest temperature and what you have given. We may do a rapid test in the room; results take 10 to 15 minutes. You leave with a written plan: what to give, what to watch for, and when to come back.

Need help outside office hours?

When the office is closed, call the main number, (770) 615-7000. After hours the call goes to our after-hours line for urgent concerns. Use the patient portal for anything that can wait until the next business day. In an emergency, call 911.

Questions parents ask

Do you offer same-day appointments?
